The URBAN ART FAIR conquers New York audience


Following the success of Urban Art Fair in Paris, the press acclaimed fair launched its first New York edition on June 29.

as well as European galleries such as:

Brugier-Rigail (Paris)

Urban Spree (Berlin)

Galerie 42b (Paris)

Galerie Joel Knafo Art (Paris)

Bel Air Fine Art (Geneva)

Art In The Game (London) and more.

Rising outsiders like PDP Gallery will be also present.

Artists

Urban Art Fair will showcase the most historic street artists such as Futura 2000, Banksy, CRASH, SEEN, Keith Haring, Noé-Two as much as a new generation of emerging urban artists including Hopare and Levalet.

Martha Cooper and Henry Chalfant are invited as guests of honor. These two photographers known for documenting the New York graffiti scene will present a selection of their best images tracing the history of street art.

The comeback of the FUN gallery

For the occasion Patti Astor will reopen her legendary FUN Gallery (1981-1985). The undisputed early 80’s NYC “Queen of The Downtown Scene” will show original artworks, video, and music by Kenny Scharf, Futura 2000, Keith Haring and more iconic artists.

A rare group of artwork by FUN artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat will be up for sale.

Performances and site-specific installations

The facade and the rooftop of Spring Studios will also welcome site-specific installations and performances, by Mark Jenkins and many others.

CRASH will paint the facade of Spring Studios on June 26-27.

Live performances by NoéTwo and Hopare will happen on the rooftop during the opening.

Urban Influence

As part of a special exhibition within the fair called Urban Influence, New York-based street artist Michael De Feo (known as The Flower Guy) is presenting a series of his original works from his recent fashion collaborations with J.Crew, Neiman Marcus and Christian Louboutin. Urban Influence highlights the creative intersection between urban art and the fashion industry. The show will feature collaborative projects from of a variety of artists and fashion designers around the world including Collina Strada, drône, GUNTAS, Head Of State, Kit Wan and Sanchez. Urban Influence is also proud to present collaborations between agnès b. and prominent street artists : Lek, L’Atlas and Jon One.

Agnès b. has been following the graffiti movement since its early beginnings in New York. She often curates exhibitions and performances, like the ones by the Ripoulin brothers in 1984 and Futura 2000 in 1989, as well a get-together she organized in 2001 featuring 17 graffiti artists.
